LiverScript

LiverScript assists in liver support and protection while providing additional antioxidant benefits.

The liver is responsible for a great number of key functions in the body including detoxification, digestion, glycogen storage, plasma protein synthesis, hormone production and the decomposition of red blood cells.

These important functions are constantly being performed and we only ever become aware of our liver’s importance when its function is compromised. The liver has a remarkable capacity for repair and regeneration, but can be harmed by many toxic substances.

LiverScript provides optimal support for phase I as well as phase II of liver detoxification to ensure all toxins are completely processed.

Indications:

  • Supports phase I and phase II liver detoxification.
  • Provides liver support and repair in acute and chronic liver disease.
  • Promotes normal bile synthesis and secretion.
  • Supports hormonal balance.
  • May reduce alcohol cravings.
  • Supports immune and allergy protocols.
  • Supports and balances the digestive system.

Detoxification, regeneration, protection, repair
Milk thistle has two main constituents, silymarin and silybin. Their antioxidant and free radical-scavenging effects are thought to be responsible for their liver protective effects. Silibinin, the main component of silymarin, has a strong affinity for the cytochrome P450 detoxification enzymes, which the liver uses to break down toxins in phase I. Silymarin seems to alter outer hepatocyte cell membranes, stabilising them and inhibiting the binding and entry of toxins.

NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) protects the liver from damage from advanced glycation end products. It increases production of the body’s primary antioxidant, glutathione, in the liver. NAC helps support the liver by protecting it from potential damage due to drug-induced elevations of bile salts and bilirubin.

Dandelion has a component called taraxasterol which has antioxidant properties to protect the liver. Dandelion supports phase I and phase II detoxification enzymes in the liver. Dandelion also functions as a cholagogue by also stimulating the release of stored bile from the gallbladder and may therefore alleviate constipation as well as gallstones.

Active antioxidant support
Alpha lipoic acid is an organo-sulphur compound present in many foods and is naturally found in the human body where it acts as a powerful antioxidant. It is essential for aerobic metabolism as it is a cofactor of many enzymes involved in energy production.

Green tea is rich in polyphenolic compounds, with catechins as its major component. Studies have shown that catechins possess diverse pharmacological properties that include anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, anti-arteriosclerotic and antibacterial effects.

Unique benefit for persons consuming alcohol
Kudzu vine, due to its isoflavonoid content, is responsible for lowering blood alcohol levels, and also for decreasing voluntary alcohol ingestion by influencing areas of the central nervous system that control the desire for alcohol. Kudzu therefore would be of potential benefit to frequent drinkers attempting to reduce their alcohol consumption.

Kudzu may also facilitate the elimination of acetaldehyde from the body thereby accelerating recovery from hangovers.

Vitamin B1 is not made endogenously in humans and therefore it needs to be consumed in the diet or taken as a supplement. Many cirrhosis patients are found to be deficient in vitamin B1. Vitamin B1 may also help reduce alcohol cravings.

Current modern lifestyles bombard the liver with toxins from a myriad of sources and it needs our help. LiverScript by Medford provides much-needed support by delivering targeted herbs and antioxidants to assist liver detoxification and repair while providing it with antioxidant protection.
