ProstaScript was formulated to support and maintain prostate health and to assist in managing urinary tract symptoms.

The prostate gland is a male exocrine gland and forms part of the male reproductive system. The prostate gland is the most common site for disorders in the male genitourinary system.

There are generally three conditions which impact prostate health:

  • Prostatitis – Inflammation of the prostate.
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) – Enlargement of the prostate without cancer.
  • Prostate cancer.

The prostate gland will trouble most men during their lifetime, and therefore a preventative strategy is essential. ProstaScript assists in this strategy by reducing inflammation in the prostate, and preventing or reducing enlargement of the prostate.

  • Support for healthy prostate function.
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) support.
  • Assists in decreasing the urinary frequency associated with prostate enlargement.
  • Improves libido.
  • May reduce male pattern balding.
  • May reduce acne and skin breakouts associated with hormonal imbalances in testosterone.

When creating a prostate formula that really works, one has to look at the triggers of prostate disorders and work backwards from there.

With age, the following may occur in men:

Levels of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) increase, therefore making less unbound or free testosterone available (free testosterone levels decrease). SHBG also binds to prostate cells causing enlargement.

The roots of stinging nettle contain extracts known as lignans which bind to sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) thereby diminishing SHBG’s negative effects.

Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) levels increase and binding of DHT to prostate tissue also increases. DHT stimulates prostate cells to enlarge, which is a leading contributor of benign prostatic hyperplasia. The enzyme, 5-alpha reductase, converts testosterone to DHT.

Saw palmetto, pygeum, beta-sitosterol and zinc are all 5-alpha reductase inhibitors. Saw Palmetto and Stinging Nettle inhibit the binding of DHT to prostate cellular receptors, thus preventing the growth effects of the hormone.

Levels of oestradiol increase.

Nettle Root is an aromatase enzyme inhibitor. The aromatase enzyme catalyses the conversion of testosterone to oestradiol, a key underlying factor in the progression of enlarged prostate.

Epidermal growth factor (EGF) activity increases (implicated in enlarged prostate).

Saw palmetto and nettle root reduce the activity of EGF in the prostate.

Free radical activity and inflammation increases.

Beta sitosterol inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the prostate and thus has anti-inflammatory activity, with some preliminary evidence showing that it may have anticancer and immune stimulatory effects. Lycopene has antioxidant effects and can prevent oxidative damage of the prostate gland by scavenging free radicals. It also helps with prostate hyperplasia. Reishi mushroom provides antioxidant protection, and stimulates the general function of the immune system due to its beta-d-glucan, ganoderic acid and polysaccharide content.

The beneficial effects of saw palmetto extend further than just the treatment of enlarged prostate – It also relaxes the smooth muscle at the bladder outlet, thereby preventing the urinary urgency and frequent urination that occurs in enlarged prostate patients.

ProstaScript by Medford is a comprehensive combination of ingredients, selected to provide complete support for prostate and urinary health, through all stages of prostate dysfunction.

Is a medical diagnosis necessary to use ProstaScript, or can anyone take it?
No, ProstaScript is safe for anyone seeking to support healthy prostate function.
Should ProstaScript be taken on a daily basis?
Yes, for the desired effect, it is advisable to take ProstaScript continuously.
Can I simply take one capsule of ProstaScript daily for long-term use?
No, the optimal therapeutic benefits are achieved by following the recommended dosage of 2 to 3 capsules daily, ensuring the correct dosing of the herbals in the formulation.
Can ProstaScript help with Male Pattern Balding?
Yes. ProstaScript may help block the activity of 5-alpha reductase, an enzyme that converts testosterone into another sex hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) which is linked to hair loss. The Saw Palmetto in ProstaScript may also prevent hair loss by reducing the uptake of DHT in your hair follicles, which decreases DHT’s ability to bind to specific hormone receptors.
I am a female – Why has my health care provider given me ProstaScript?
Some of the ingredients in ProstaScript, particularly Saw Palmetto, have demonstrated the ability to support healthy testosterone levels in women. Elevated testosterone levels in women are often linked to issues such as excessive body hair, hair loss, acne, and irregular periods.
